Database Reports and Journal Articles

CQ Researcher - GREAT resource for finding summarized analysis of the issues that Congress is pondering. 

Opposing Viewpoints - useful for summaries of hot topic issues, with arguments for both sides of the debate. 

ProQuest Platinum - general newspaper and scholarly journal article database. Use for locating newspaper articles on your issue. (may not necessarily be analytical.) You can search within specific publications as well, such as Mother Jones, Economist, The Atlantic, etc. 

 

White House Resources

White House - Issues - great overview and jumping-off point for the different aspects of policy that the White House is currently working on. 

White House - Executive Branch 

National Security Council - role of the National Security Advisor and the council is to advise the president on issues of national security and foreign policy. 

 

Congressional Resources

House of Representatives - Committees - might be useful for figuring out who the major players in Congress are, related to your issue.
