Getting Started with Audacity

Audacity has some great editing tools.  Thiese guides will show how to do some basic edits.  In addition to what they show you here I want to mention the use of the bracket keys on the computer.  While you are playing your audio.  you can hit [ to start selecting a section and ] to end the selection.  Your selection will be highlighted and then you can remove it or edit it.
